acupuncture and nursing in North Carolina. I hold a Masters of
Acupuncture degree from Tai Sophia Institute in Laurel, MD, am
certified by the NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for
Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine), and by NADA (National Acupuncture
Detoxification Association) as an Acupuncture Detox Specialist.
Additionally, I am a Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
Before studying acupuncture, I had a long career in nursing, primarily
in Obstetrics, NICU and Nursery, and Lactation. The story of my
acupuncture treatment and subsequent decision to learn and share
the wonderful medicine of acupuncture is on this page. About
I primarily practice Five-Element Acupuncture, where I observe
how a person lives in nature and through the seasons, working
with mind and spirit as well as bodily ailments. Treatments aim
to balance the body's energy (qi), stimulating your own natural
innate healing ability on all levels.
I offer you compassionate, holistic, relationship-centered, professional
care. The time and attention you receive may be a new experience,
and can lead to excellent results. Together we will focus on improving
your health and bringing new possibilities to you life. About

and the general public with a responsible assessment of the use
and effectiveness of acupuncture for a variety of conditions."
Research into the effectiveness of acupuncture treatment has increased
greatly in the past ten years, much funded by The National Center
for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, which has published
an updated research review. The World Health Organization has
also published information on research into acupuncture treatment.

Traditional Five-Element Acupuncture is a school of acupuncture,
based in traditions several thousand years old, and brought to
the West by J.R. Worsley in England, after studying for many years
in China, Japan, and Korea. He taught many students who became
practitioners all over the world, including the United States.
About 10% of acupuncturists in the US practice Five-Element Acupuncture,
which is a truly holistic treatment, seeing body, mind, and spirit
as one. It is an ancient system which is perfect for treating
the ills of modern life, as it emphasizes spiritual aspects of
illness as well as mental and physical. Five-Element Acupuncture
is flexible, allowing individualized treatment which effectively
compliments Western medical care. Five-Element
In the US, Acupuncture and other complementary and alternative
medical treatments are becoming more and more available, and so
information about them is more readily available as well. Most
people have many questions, about which they would like answers.
Here you can find the information you need to decide if acupuncture
treatment is right for you.
Questions include: What is Acupuncture? Where did it come from?
What is treatment like? Do the needles hurt? Is acupuncture safe?
What can I expect from treatment? How often and how long do I
need to come for treatment? What is the relationship between acupuncture
and other medical care? What does it cost? Does insurance cover
acupuncture? How can I find a competent acupuncturist? To find
